Louisa Aldridge - Head teacher Astmoor primary school

I have worked with Frances for over 5 years in my role as both Headteacher and SENDCo at Astmoor Primary School. During that time, I feel we have formed a really strong working relationship which is built on mutual trust, understanding and respect.

Frances is a highly experienced Educational Psychologist who offers insightful and pragmatic solutions to everyday problems.

She has frequently helped me to find a way through problems that I have felt to be overwhelming, supporting me to find much needed clarity of thought.

Reports about children are always of a high quality with recommendations that are practical and not too demanding of a very busy class teacher.

Frances understands our school and our school community really well and working with her has helped to shape my own vision about what inclusion means at Astmoor.

As a PRU, we've had the benefit of Frances' professional advice and support on many occasions. I'm delighted to say how positive, supportive and child-centred she always is and how professional, inclusive and useful her reports and written advice have been.

The service and support myself and my current school have had through using the Group Consultation approach has been invaluable, the range of strategies to try with the children we discuss is never ending and the Educational Psychologists always have something up their sleeves, even when you feel you have tried everything possible!

The fact that there are other schools attending is really the icing on the cake as it means you have the opportunity to share ideas, interventions and strategies and the other children that are discussed always means there are plenty of ideas to take away to try in school for yourself. I really enjoy attending our Group Consultation sessions and have found as a school we have made many links with other schools who attend to really enhance our collaborative approach to learning and supporting children with SEND.

I have been very happy with the EP support that we have received as a school.  The consultation process is efficient and enables us to get through  more cases each half term. It is very beneficial discussing cases with colleagues who can share good practice and have often had similar children so can speak with real experience.  It is also a good opportunity to share resources and successful strategies.  The ability to use consultation advice that is not directly for one of our children is also really useful. This delivery model of EP support has been really successful for us.
